Can steak knives be put in the dishwasher?
Steak knives are made of 13-0 steel. The chance that these knives will become blunt due to dishwasher cleaning is high. Knives with a wooden handle are also not suitable for the dishwasher. How do I get rid of rust on my cutlery?
Flash rust or contact corrosion is often easy to remove by gently polishing your cutlery with a scouring pad (the soft side) or a mild abrasive (such as Cif) and a wet sponge. The product itself is not affected by this light abrasion. You can rub away spots with a piece of aluminium foil. Roll the aluminium into a ball and moisten it. Then rub it gently over the spots.

How do I prevent rust on my cutlery?
Moisture is the most common cause of flash rust. To prevent cutlery from rusting, it is important to dry cutlery quickly. Preferably immediately after washing dishes or the dishwasher program. Do not leave dirty dishes for too long and do not spill dishwasher salt in the machine. In addition, rust can be caused by contact between different types of stainless steel. Knives are made of a different type of steel. Keep knives (both table knives and kitchen knives) separate from forks and spoons. This prevents corrosion.
